Sufetula was part of the Roman province Africa. The ruins contain the best preserved forum of Tunisia. The forum has three tempels to the gods Juno, Jupiter and Minerva. The ruins lie to the north of Sbeitla. The city was growing in the second century AD and was prosperous thanks to the olive oil industry. Sufetula was the capitol of Africa from 646 to 647.
