Long Description:

The monument was raised in 1943 across the street from Vor Frue Kirke (Church of Our Lady), the Lutheran cathedral of Copenhagen. At its four sides there are bronze plaques with reliefs depicting scenes from Danish reformation history:

Hans Tausens praediken i Viborg Graabrodre kirke afbrydes af vaebnede maend
Sermon of Hans Tausen in Franciscan Church in Viborg interrupted by soldiers - Hans Tausen brought Luther's teachings to Denmark and his activity in Viborg was leading to armed conflicts between Viborg burghers and the men of the Catholic bishop. Later, King Frederick I took Tausen under his protection and invited him to Copenhagen.

Herredagen i København vedtager reformationens indførelse 30 Oktober 1536
The assembly of noblemen of Copenhagen adopt reformation on October 30th, 1536 - this scene refers to the act of King Christian III, when he proclaimed Denmark a protestant country.

De evangeliske biskopper indvies i vor Frue Kirke i København 2 September 1537
Evangelical bishops consecrated in Our Lady's Church in Copenhagen on September 2nd, 1537 - After King Christian III declared independence of the Danish Church from Rome, he invited Johann Bugenhagen, Lutheran theologian from Pomerania, to consecrate the first Danish bishops.

Dansk gudstjeneste efter reformationens indførelse Peder Palladius praediker
Danish reformed church service led by Peder Palladius - Peter Palladius was one of the first Danish bishops and a professor of theology at Copenhagen University. Among his other merits, he prepared a liturgy in Danish language.

The descriptions are carved to stone base under the relief. At the cathedral facing side there is a small bronze plaque:
