Long Description:
THE STONES IN THIS MONUMENT, QUARRIED IN

MADISON COUNTY BY LOCAL CITIZENS, WERE A

PART OF ONE OF HUNTSVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT'S

WPA ERA BUILDINGS. THE CONSTRUCTION OF

THE SCHOOL BEGAN IN 1933 WITH WPA LABOR

AND THEN HALTED BECAUSE OF WW II

IT WAS FINALLY COMPLETED IN 1946.

DURING ITS 54 YEARS, IT SERVED AS AN

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND A JUNIOR HIGH

SCHOOL. TO HONOR EVERYONE WHO PROVIDED

LABOR FOR AND ATTENDED SCHOOL IN THIS

BUILDING, STUDENTS FROM HUNTSVILLE HIGH

SCHOOL DESIGNED THIS PERMANENT MEMORIAL.
