About "Burning 2012"

Dec 30th, 2011: A short preface about this project

The increased awareness about our impending destruction by fire at the end of 2012 has inspired me to focus on our internal spark, that burning desire to exist. Will be truly be engulfed in flames as 2012 draws to a close or is this yet another non-milestone like the recent Y2K scare? Time, as always, will tell.

2012 is also a good time to start to build a fire. Since 2008 the world and its inhabitants have become scared and turned inside themselves. Four years of pressure as we all take on more from external sources yet achieve less internally builds to a point where explosion must be the eventual result. Fire is a tool that man has harnessed and can use to create. Fire uncontrolled can have devastating results. From that destruction there is always rebirth. Fire is as much a cleaner as water. It is time to let that fire do what it has always done and drive the change.

In this project it is my hope to document the year 2012. The successes and failures, the builds and the burns, the work and the fun. These will be presented through images and narratives, through links and articles. And it is more to challenge myself to channel the fire within, master it and fuel the drive forward.
