Long Description:Right from Ash Grove 1.8 m. on County V, a graveled road, to (R) the NATHAN BOONE HOUSE, a double cabin built by Colonel Boone in 1837, when he moved his family to Greene County. The exterior logs have been weather-boarded and a new roof has been added, but otherwise the cabin is unchanged. The plank flooring is held in place by wooden pegs. The house has four rooms divided by a simple hallway. At each end of the house Is a native-stone chimney. Near the cabin is the family cemetery, containing the graves of Nathan Boone and his wife, Olive Bibber Boone. - Missouri: Guide to the "Show Me" State, Tour 5, pg. 421.
The Nathan Boone house is now a Missouri State Historic Site with tours available. The house is as described with some restoration done to preserve the house. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1969.
