Long Description:
Thomas L. Fawick was born and raised in Sioux Falls. Early on his genius showed through and at the age of 17 (in 1906) he built a rudimentary two-cylinder auto. At 19 he incorporated his own motor car company and assembled the nation's first four-door automobile, the Fawick Flyer. He left Sioux Falls, became a multi-millionaire and was granted over 200 patents. In 1971 he gave the city and Augustana College this full scale reproduction of David. The original is a Michelangelo masterpiece created in 1504 in Florence, Italy.
