Long Description:
The fountain is in a traffic free zone with nearby benches to sit on. It is opposite the market on the strangely named street Jubbergate.

Because York still retains most of its Medieval walls it’s easy to imagine that any street with the word gate in the name leads to a gate in the walls. However large parts of York were built by invading Vikings and their name for a street was gata which became changed to gate.

On this day the market stalls were selling flowers, but they sell different things on different days.
