The memorial is an impressive display with the features that are mentioned above, along with the following quotes that are embedded in the walkway: "Oh Honored Stone We stand here now to touch this stone placed in memory Of those who fought and those who died to shape our history We clear our mind and quickly find the honor they bestowed from land and sea and silver planes so freedom we could hold. This stone captures life and death from the silence of its sound And from the partriotic breezes of souls lifting up to sacred ground." Marie Ross *************** "Death is the open door that all life will pass through a crossover which we gaze upon all our lives You leave us with memories, yesterdays, filled with your smile and kindness. You leave us with our own horizons to gaze upon." Betsy Lee **************** "Soldiers Prayer Hear my heart Lord! Have me not lean on my wisdom Reach down your hand and protect me from violence... ...and those who start wars. You are my rock and fortress Scatter my enemies before me- Let the lion lay down with the lamb.. Have swords beat into plowshares... ...and spears into pruning hooks.. Then nation will not take up sword against nation nor will they train for war anymore." Timothy Fowler ************ "Men who offered their lives for their country know that patriotism is not the fear of something. It is the love of something." Adali Stevenson. "A nation reveals itself not only by the men it produces. but also by the men it honors, the men it remembers." President John F. Kennedy "Let me not mourn for the men who have died fighting, but rather let me be glad that such heroes have lived." General George S. Patton ************ "Survival We must live thru the weary winter if we value the Spring The woods must be silent Before robins sing. Hearts that have withstood the hardest test Know the purest joy of all And from lips that have tasted sadness the sweetest songs will fall. As peace comes after suffering... And love is the reward od pain... So after earth comes heaven... and out of the loss..the gain." Elaina R Kepler ************ "To Die To young to, no, not I I love the warm of sunny skies Light songs, shining eyes I want no war, no battle cry- No, No, Not I But if it must be that I live today With blood and death on every hand Praised be He for the grace, I'll say To live, if I should die this day... Upon your soil, my home, my land." Hanna Senesh
