Description: BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1947 (FXP) THIS IS AN INTERSECTION STATION. THE STATION IS THE TOP CENTER OF THE SMOKESTACK OF THE POWER AND HEATING PLANT OF ROSE POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE WHICH IS LOCATED ON U.S. HIGHWAY 40 ABOUT 3 MILES EAST OF DOWNTOWN TERRE HAUTE.
Rose Polytechnic was renamed Rose-Hulman Institute of Techology in 1973 due to the significant endowement provided by the Hulman family. The stack off the coal fired heating system is still in use.
