Marker Erected by: First Baptist Church Historical Committee.
Date Marker Erected: 2000.
County of Marker: Washington County.
Location of Marker: College Ave. & Dickson St., Fayetteville.

Marker Text:

T.B. Van Horne, first pastor of First Baptist Church, founded Fayetteville Female Institute on this site in 1858. Later rechartered in 1861 as Northwest Arkansas Baptist Female Institute, it housed a Federal Arsenal which was destroyed by military action in 1862.
