Moscow, Idaho, home of the University of Idaho, may or may not have been named for Moscow, Russia. One story holds that the name Moscow was chosen by the first postmaster because he believed that the isolation of the community was creating problems comparable to those of Moscow, Russia, during the "time of troubles" under Ivan the Terrible.
