Quick Description: A Monroe County, Pennsylvania stop for those who wanted to be free. They used to have a website for the museum, but nothing mentions that it's an URR stop. Their phone number is (570) 588-9338.

Long Description:
The sign reads: The Pocono Indian Museum is housed in the former JohnVan Campen Coolbaugh homestead erected about 1840. During the American Civil War the cellar was used to hide slaves on the underground railroad enroute to Canada. During Prohibition the building was called the "Joan of Arc" and was a popular speakeasy. Two famous visitors of the past were "Legs Diamond" and "Dutch Schultz" the notorious gangsters.


Hours: Summertime, daily 9:30am - 7pm. Wintertime, daily 10am - 5:30pm.

Admission: Adults $5.00, Children 6 - 12 $3.50. Groups: 50% discount. School Groups FREE.

Group Reservations: 4 weeks.

Lunch: Picnic area available -- bring a blanket.

Handicapped: Mostly accessible.

Directions: Rt. 611 North to I-80 West to Rt. 209 North (toward Marshall's Creek). Museum is on 209 about 4 miles north of Marshall's Creek.

Time: 90 - 120 minutes north of Philadelphia.
