Waymarks suitable for this category include:
1. Permanent Survey Marks with a cast metal disc
2. Any vertical or horizontal control point with visible and clear surveying markings.
3. Trig Points not able to be listed in the Australian Trig Points category.
4. Historic survey marks.
Note: This category's intention is to work alongside the Australian Trig Points waymarking category. While metal benchmark discs associated with Trig Points could be logged here validly, please submit these to the Australian Trig Points category. All New Zealand benchmarks (including Trig Points) are welcome to be logged here.
In the interest of quality of content in the category, surveying markers such as: painted marks, flag markers, small pins or any other temporary survey marks will not be accepted. Rule of thumb: Is the point interesting enough for another member to spend their time looking for the mark?
Many permanent survey marks are marked on topographic maps and websites such as Geoscience Australia's Mapconnect. State Government land management sites can also be used to locate them.
