Veteran Cemeteries

Managed By: Icon Here Veteran Cemeteries
Description:
This category is for National, State, and local cemeteries dedicated to military members and military veterans.
Expanded Description:
Veteran cemeteries are where many military service members are laid to rest. These can be cemeteries managed by Veteran Affairs, states and local governments. This category is comprised of veteran cemeteries for any country and government in the world. They are sometimes called National Cemeteries, Field's of Honor, etc.

Here are listings of veteran cemeteries in the USA:
Department of Veteran Affairs Burial and Memorials

The Last Post Fund handles many veteran burials for Canada. Click here for a regional office directory to find out where veteran cemeteries are located in their respective regions.

If your country or government military cemetery web link is not listed above, please let us know the link and we will add it.

In order for a military cemetery to qualify, the cemetery area of land must be solely designated as a place for people who are given military veteran status by their government. This could be an entire cemetery designated as a military cemetery, or a regular cemetery which has a reserved section only for military members. In the case of the later, only waymark the designated military portion of the cemetery. Individual veteran grave sites do not qualify for this category.

Click here for a fairly good definition of what a veteran is.

Instructions for Posting a Veteran Cemeteries Waymark:
At least one photo of the entrance of the cemetery is required. Additional photos are "strongly" encouraged. Please provide as much of a detailed description of the special place you are waymarking. Help others know about the history and trivia of this special place where so many brave people have been laid to rest.

Please specify in your description if the cemetery is specific to a branch of service.

Also recommended is to include if there are any notable graves in the cemetery such as Medal of Honor winners, Presidents, legendary generals, etc.

Do not include any visit requirements above what is already listed in the category description.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Please submit a photo(s) taken by you of your visit to the location (non-copyrighted photos only). GPS photos are also accepted with the location in the background, and old vacation photos are accepted. If you are not able to provide a photo, then please describe your visit or give a story about the visit.

We would also like to hear about any of your deceased family members who may be laid to rest in the cemetery.
