This category is to identify Maori historic sites in New Zealand including both working marae and historic marae sites, pa and other sites of significance to early Maori.
Expanded Description:
Waymarks in this category include historical pa sites; working marae (ie Turangawaewae); battle sites; places of significance (ie various places where the Treaty was signed); places of historical conflict/protest with colonial rule (ie One Tree Hill); and destroyed or abandoned marae (ie Te Wairoa).
Instructions for Posting a Maori Historic Sites Waymark:
- Accurate gps co-ordinates
- Photo of the place or plaque/sign explaining why it is significant
- Include as much information as you can in the log about the site including any personal information (for instance if you were invited on to a marae, include what happened during your visit)
