Locomotives
Description:
Locomotives on permanent display
Expanded Description:
Locomotive displays can be found world wide. This category focuses on steam, diesel, and electric locomotives that are on permanent display for the viewing public. A great reference page for steam locomotive displays in Canada, The United States, Mexico and Cuba can be found at steamlocomotive.com. It lists Surviving Steam Locomotives.

Be aware that operational (still in use) and privately stored locomotives (not on display with the intent of public viewing) do not fit the criteria of this category.

Instructions for Posting a Locomotives Waymark:
  • 1. Locate a locomotive (engine) that is on permanent display. Any static locomotive display can be waymarked.
  • 2. Personally visit and obtain accurate coordinates from in front of the locomotive.
  • 3. Provide two (2) original (good quality) photos of the locomotive.
  • 4. Please include as much information as possible about the locomotive in the long description.
  • 5. Please consider including a verification of visit question in your long description. This will provide an alternate visit option for visitors who choose to visit without providing proof photos.

This category is for actual locomotives that provided rail service. Model train and other displays do not meet the criteria of this waymark category.

  • Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
Waymark creators for this category are encouraged to create a visit verification question for visitors. See individual waymarks for specific logging criteria.

Photos of visits are encouraged but not required for this category.

    Category Settings:
