The objective of the Dated Structures Multifarious category is to provide a place to waymark the many worldwide dated architectural structures that aren't accepted into other categories, particularly the Dated Buildings and Cornerstones and Bridge Date Stones and Plaques categories. The most common waymark accepted into this category would likely be a dated plaque or sign of a permanent nature, residing in front of a building (or inside of a building) that notes its construction date and the individuals who contributed in some way to its development. These dated plaques/signs are often denied in the Dated Buildings and Cornerstones category because they aren't built into the fabric of the structure (like a cornerstone or an etched date into a building) AND they aren't an actual building (a requirement in their category) but will gladly be accepted here. Other types of dated architectural structures that could be waymarked here include but are not limited to:
YES
Dated Tunnels
Dated Culverts (under roads and railroads)
Dated Arches or Gateways (entrances to properties)
Dated Stone Walls (freestanding or as part of a Park, Cemetery or similar)
Dated Water or Drinking Fountains
Dated Flagpoles
Dated Benches (as in school class benches)
Any other dated freestanding structures, or anything of an architectural nature.
*UPDATE 3/31/15* This category will now allow submissions of architectural structures with plaques noting a renovation/restoration/remodel or similar update.
This category is NOT a resource for the following (but not limited to) plaques or markers that might reside inside or outside a building or structure:
NO
Dated Historical Markers or Plaques (Signs of History)
Dated Community Commemorations
Dated Citizen Memorials
Dated Time Capsule Plaques
Dated War Memorials/Monuments
Dated Paintings or Murals
Dated Sculptures or Statues
Any sign or plaque that reads 'Since...', 'Incorporated...', 'Established....' or similar (these dates don't necessarily reflect the age of the structure)
Any painted letters or dates on a structure (not a permanent representation)
Any other dated marker or plaque on an architectural structure that could be waymarked into another existing category. *NOTE* The structures themselves can always be waymarked in other categories, we're just focusing on the plaques/markers on or inside these structures.
This category will also NOT allow dated plaques/markers in front of former (non-existing) buildings or structures.
PLEASE DO NOT confuse this category as a place to waymark just ANY dated object. If you are not sure if a particular dated structure fits into this category, please send a message to one of the officers BEFORE you submit a waymark to eliminate the possibility that your waymark submission may be denied. The pictures below should give you a good idea of what this category is looking for. The category officers will be very receptive to the many types of dated structures that exist worldwide and are submitted into the category. We are limiting this category to dated architectural structures like the ones pictured below. In addition, if multiple plaques or dates exist on a structure, please waymark them as one submission.
