South Dakota historic markers are our windows to the past. They educate us, they make us curious to investigate, or they provide a nice excuse to take a break and stretch our legs while we read what happened here.

Expanded Description:

What is important to us about our history is communicated in many ways. Books, newspapers, radio and television are all media that both reflect and convey our since of history. However, in the South Dakota what is important to us about things that happened and their significance is no where better reflected than in the various markers that punctuate the great state of South Dakota. Each one beckons us to pull over, take in a piece of history, and consider the landscape that in past days hosted events so significance that our fathers have chosen to give of their time and money to place a lasting remembrance.

Instructions for Posting a South Dakota Historical Markers Waymark:

The waymark MUST be located in the state of South Dakota. Markers outside of the state boundries will not be accepted.

1. Provide accurate coordinates.

2. Two Photos: you must upload a photo of the area surrounding the marker and a second photo of the marker itself.

We've been asked to enforce the picture rule. Therefore, logs without photos will be deleted!
