The theater may be public, private, community, academic, outdoor, historic or modern, located on Broadway or in small communities, but will always be primarily dedicated to live theatrical performances.

This category is NOT a place for movie theaters or the cinema.

Multi-use facilities may be considered for inclusion, but there is a separate category for "Concert Halls."

Instructions for Posting a Live Stage Theaters Waymark:

To add a waymark to this category will require more than a drive-by. It is intended to require a bit of research in order to create a quality waymark that will add to our knowledge base. The following are required:

GPS coordinates. Original coordinates should be taken as near to a major entrance as possible. State in your narrative where the readings were taken.

Photos: A minimum of TWO photos are required -- an exterior view showing as much of the theater building as possible (this should be the default image for the listing), and a photo clearly showing the name of the theater, which may be a sign. If the name is clearly seen in the first photo, one picture may suffice. Or, if there is no name visible, this requirement may be waived. Multiple photos are encouraged, however,though not required, including interior shots, to give as complete a picture of the theater building as possible. It it is a historic site, photos of the appropriate signs and plaques are encouraged.

Name: The name of this waymark should include the theater name and its location (city/town and state/province or just city if it is well-known, or country) Example: Greatest Theater in the World -- Hometown, My State/Country.

Description: Care and effort in providing a good narrative will increase the value of your waymark. Describe the unique features of your theater. Your narrative might include things such as the history of the theatre, unique architecture, details about types of performances, its setting, etc. The variables can be a guide, but are not a substitute for a good narrative.

Variables: There is an extensive list of variables with this category. Most of them are NOT required, since there is a wide variety of theaters and many variables may not universally apply. That said, however, you are encouraged to fill out as many variables as possible.

SPECIAL NOTE: While the details outlined in our category description, and the requirements listed in the posting instructions, cover the MINIMUM elements and standards for all waymarks in this category, each waymark will also be evaluated by a volunteer reviewer for overall quality and appropriateness. If a reviewer deems that there are deficiencies in some aspect of the waymark, the waymark may be either declined or accepted with request for changes and/or additions in either content or format.

Each waymark will be evaluated on its own merits. We will endeavor to be reasonable and flexible while maintaining the quality standards for the category. If there is a disagreement, try to work it out with the evaluating officer, or appeal to the group leader, but we reserve the right to accept or decline a waymark based on our best judgement.

LANGUAGE NOTE: We recognize waymarking as a global hobby and welcome waymarks from all countries. Because of our international scope, we also acknowledge ENGLISH as our lingua franca. English will create the highest level of accessibility globally. All waymarks must have at least a short description in ENGLISH. We encourage bilingual and multilingual waymarks, but one of the languages must be English. We have volunteer translators to help.

Relying on software or internet based translators, such as Babylon and Google Translate, may NOT yield accurate translations that are intelligible. Use these only when there is no alternative. Although we do not expect grammatical perfection, a waymark may be declined if there the English language is not understandable.

Built as an armoury and drill hall during World War I, this building eventually became a community hall and, still later, also housed a local theatre company, the Asparagus Community Theatre.
