Expanded Description:

This waymark category lists points of interest along designated scenic byways. In order to qualify for an entry, the waymark must meet the following criteria:

1.	The point of interest must lie adjacent to the byway and must be of scenic, geographic, historic or other interest. Please don't list every single parking lot along a highway just because you can. Pullouts, parking lots, roadside restrooms, gas stations, businesses, etc. without scenic, geographic or historic interest should not be submitted.
2.	Please try to be consistent with the theme of the Scenic Byway. If a byway is listed because of its historic value, try to find the historic sites and tell us their stories; if a byway is designated as scenic for its natural beauty, find the scenic places, take pictures and share them with us.
3.	We don't mind orientation tables and historic markers, but please submit those only if you can add an interesting story or some spectacular photos. If there is really nothing but a marker or a table, it should be listed in another appropriate waymarking category. Managers reserve the right to deny these kind of submissions but we will try to suggest another fitting category.
4.	The Title of the Waymark must consist of the name of the Scenic Byway first and the name of the point of interest second, for example: Kings Canyon National Scenic Byway - Junction View Vista Point.
5.	It must be along a road listed in an official national or state Scenic Byway Program. So far, we are aware of the following (US) National Scenic Byway Programs: America's Byways USDA Forest Service Byways Bureau of Land Management Back Country Byways There are also a number of state programs listed at the bottom of this website. We are sure other countries have similar programs. If you find one, let us know and we will add it to the list.

Instructions for Posting a National Scenic Byways Waymark:

Submit the coordinates and describe your experience at this place. Post at least one personally taken photograph of the waymarked point of interest.
Submit the Scenic Byway's Webpage or a photo of a sign at the location stating it is part of a scenic byway. (If there is neither, other evidence, like a copy of a brochure may be acceptable).

Please give a brief description of your visit. Maybe why you were there, what you found interesting, or something along those lines. Photos are also encouraged. Although the only requirement to log a visit to a waymark in this category is to physically visit the location, the photos and extra information you can provide about the area is very helpful to future visitors.
