Description:
This category documents the historical markers found in Arizona.
Expanded Description:
In Arizona, many agencies have been involved in erecting historical markers. Currently, there is no single database that lists the markers in Arizona. What little information is available is not online or easily obtained. The data at the various agencies may be current, or out of date due to the fact that historical markers have been destroyed, relocated, or revised. An attempt was made by the coordinated efforts of archaeological groups to locate the markers within the last decade, but was canceled due to lack of funding.

Any historic marker located inside the state of Arizona can be listed in this category. These include the many markers placed by historical societies, counties, cities, federal agencies and other civic groups. These markers may be roadside markers, or located in very isolated rural areas.
Instructions for Posting a Arizona Historical Markers Waymark:
Waymarks in this category should include:

* Coordinates taken at the marker itself
* A legible photo of the marker
* A photo of the marker in its setting
* Full text of marker
* Name of the agency or agencies involved in the placement of the marker.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
To claim a log for this waymark, some proof of visit is required. This proof can be a simple gps photo, a photo with your mascot (a signature item that you use for photographs, similar to using a gps) or a answer to any question that the person who posted the waymark has asked. A gps photo will always be accepted as proof of visit regardless of any specific question a waymark may ask.
