Carillon
Managed By: Icon Here Bell Boyz
Description:
The goal of this category is to locate and photograph both traditional examples of carillons throughout the world. Talk about your heavy metal music, these are considered to be the heaviest of all musical instruments. We are not looking for simple bell towers with just a few bells, and certainly are not interested in electronic ones. We will take those that have been converted over, but still have the bells within. Portable ones are an option, too.
Expanded Description:
We are looking for examples of both traditional carillons. Traditional carillons have at least 23 bells. They can be played both manually and by automation. Not all bell towers are considered carillons, so be sure to verify there is an actual one present. There must be at least 15 bells present. You need to make this clear, either with pictures or by a link to a website with a description of the carillon. If not, don't bother submitting it.

According to the linked Wiki article:

A carillon is a musical instrument consisting of at least 23 cast bronze cup-shaped bells which are played one after the other (to play a melody) or sounded together (to play a chord). A carillon is played by striking a keyboard (called a "baton") with the fists and by pressing the keys of a pedal keyboard with the feet. The keys mechanically activate levers and wires that connect to the metal clappers that strike the bells, allowing the performer (known as a "carillonneur") to vary the intensity of the note according to the force applied to the key. Instructions for Posting a Carillon Waymark:
There must be at least 15 bells within. You must obtain your own coordinates and include at least one photograph of the location. This should include a close-up of the carillon structure itself. A photo of the area in general would also be nice. When you title the WM, list the name of the facility or the actual name of the carillon, followed by the city and state or other regional description. Describe the location where it is found, such as a park, church or otherwise, as well as some general information about the carillon. Try to fill out the guide as best you can. Include a link about the location, if one is available.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
An original photograph of the carillon is required. One of you and your crew doing your very best imitation of Quasimodo and/or Esmeralda will be most appreciated.
