Long Description:
This mark (and 2 Reference Marks) is located inside the circular drive at the top of Mt Davis. It is south of the E-W path which bisects the circle.

DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1975 (JRS) THE STATION IS LOCATED ABOUT 7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MEYERSDALE, 6-1/2 MILES NORTH OF GRANTSVILLE, MARYLAND, 5-1/2 MILES NORTHWEST OF SALISBURY, ON ABOUT THE HIGHEST POINT OF MT DAVIS, WHICH IS THE HIGHEST POINT IN PENNSYLVANIA, AND ON PROPERTY OWNED BY PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF FORESTS AND PARKS. PERMISSION WAS GIVEN BY ROBERT ACHE, DISTRICT SUPERVISOR, LIGONIER, PENNSYLVANIA, TELEPHONE 412 238-9533.

TO REACH THE STATION FROM THE JUNCTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 219 AND STATE HIGHWAY 669 IN SALISBURY, GO WEST ON HIGHWAY 669 FOR 0.7 MILE TO A T-ROAD WHERE HIGHWAY 669 TURNS LEFT. TURN RIGHT AND GO NORTH AND NORTHWEST ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 1.7 MILES TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT AT THE VILLAGE OF SAINT PAUL. TURN LEFT AND GO WESTERLY ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 4.0 MILES TO THE SALISBURY ATT MICROWAVE AND NORTH WOLF ROCK ROAD ON THE RIGHT. CONTINUE WESTERLY FOR 0.4 MILE TO A SIDE ROAD LEFT, SOUTH WOLF ROCK ROAD. TURN LEFT AND GO SOUTHERLY ON PAVED ROAD FOR 0.6 MILE TO A FORK. KEEP LEFT AND GO EASTERLY ON A PAVED ROAD FOR 0.2 MILE TO A FORK, WHICH FORMS A CIRCLE DRIVE AROUND AN OBSERVATION TOWER. KEEP RIGHT FOR 150 FEET TO THE STATION ON THE LEFT.

STATION MARK IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED---FORBES 1975---, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN A 5 BY 8 FOOT BOULDER, THAT PROJECTS 18 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 61.0 FEET SOUTH OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF A FOUNDATION, 47.0 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF THE CIRCULAR DRIVE AND 28.5 FEET SOUTH OF A WELL PIPE.

REFERENCE MARK 1 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED---FORBES NO 1 1975---, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE SOUTH EDGE OF A 6 BY 10 FOOT BOULDER, THAT PROJECTS 6 INCHES ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 63.0 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER OF THE CIRCULAR DRIVE, 31.5 FEET EAST OF THE WELL PIPE, 22.0 FEET SOUTHEAST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE FOUNDATION AND ABOUT 1 FOOT HIGHER THAN THE STATION.

REFERENCE MARK 2 IS A STANDARD DISK, STAMPED---FORBES NO 2 1975---, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE WEST EDGE OF A 6 BY 20 FOOT BOULDER, THAT PROJECTS 4 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 35.0 FEET WEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE FOUNDATION, 28.0 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE WELL PIPE AND ABOUT 5 FEET HIGHER THAN THE STATION.

3213 RESET USGS 1975 IS A BRONZE TRIANGULATION STATION DISK OF THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, STAMPED---3213 RESET 1952---, CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN A LARGE POINTED BOULDER, THAT PROJECTS 8 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND. IT IS 72.5 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE WELL PIPE, 65.0 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE FOUNDATION, 49.8 FEET EAST OF THE SOUTHEAST LEG OF THE OBSERVATION TOWER AND ABOUT 6 FEET HIGHER THAN THE STATION.

THERE WAS NO SUITABLE LOCATION FOR AN AZIMUTH MARK. HEIGHT OF LIGHT ABOVE MARK 22.6 METERS.
