Long Description:
West Side
Origin of Firehole River
East Side
Origin of Lewis River
Snow fed Isa Lake is only about 250 feet long, but its impact can be found for thousands of miles. The lake is located precisely on the Continental Divide and the snow melt water drains in two directions making it the origin of two different river systems:

To the west, a small creek feeds the Firehole River which flows into the Missouri which flows into the Mississippi which flows into the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean.

To the east, another small creek feeds the Lewis River, which feeds the Snake River which flows into the Columbia River which ends at the Pacific Ocean.
