Long Description:

The decoration of British Telecom street side junction boxes is part of an initiative by Southwark Council in the Borough and Bankside areas. Funding from Borough & Bankside Community Council's "Cleaner Greener Safer" scheme is being used to make these boxes more attractive and to try and deter graffiti and fly posters.

Unaware as to what sugar cane actually looked like a quick search on the internet revealed this image and the artwork on the utility box immediately became clear. The image, on the front and unds of the box shows sugar cane stood on end. Those on the front extend on to the top of the utility box. The box is against a low wall that has railings on top and a glimpse behind shows that the rear of the box is not decorated (see photos).
