The plaque says, "At age 14, Wendy Wyland moved from New York to Mission Viejo to train with the Mission Viejo Nadadores. A 1983 graduate of Mission Viejo High School, Wyland captured a bronze medal a year latter in the Women's Platform Divinf at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. Following her athletic achievements as an Olympic medalist, a U.S. National Platform champion, and a World Platform champion, Wyland pursed her academic achievements. Wyland received a degree in communications from Florida Atlantic University and a master's degree in education from the University of North Texas. Wyland's academic achievements provided the framework for her service to the community. Wyland has pursued a career with a nonprofit organization assisting individuals with developmental challenges."
