Long Description:
This is the smaller modern grey granite memorial to Boomer that was installed here by retired railroad workers of the Great Northern Railroad in 1990. Boomer's actual grave is a few yards east of here under a large concrete cone.

This memorial is in the small historic park next to the Last Spike historic marker and the GNRR Caboose that is on display here. The memorial features a reprint of the newspaper article about Boomer's funeral that was published the day he was laid to rest in 1937 by his mournful friends.

This sweet and heartfelt memorial made the Blasters who explored here tear up a little. Younger Sister Blaster was sad that the little dog had died, and Mama Blaster was touched that over 50 years later, his crusty old railroad worker friends still remembered him.

A small brass plaque is bolted to the memorial. It reads as follows:

"In Memory of BOOMER

A great dog & friend
of all who knew him

Strayed into the round
house one cold morning
in March 1927.

Died April 23, 1937.

And there the faithful dog is found."

The granite post is engraved

"Donated by
Breckenridge
& Wahpeton
Railroad
Retirees

1990"
