Long Description:
I noticed this fireworks tree as I was on my way to visit a friend who moved to a neighborhood close to Medina Lake. A few days earlier, totally unrelated to my visit, I had been surfing through the waymarking categories and had noticed the category for fireworks trees. I had not noticed them before, although I shall be on the lookout for them now. Driving along the Farm to Market roads in the far edges of Bexar County and crossing into Medina County, I was not surprised to see a fireworks stand close to the county lines. Mr. W Fireworks have been in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for a generation or two. What did catch my eye was the tall globe of spikes coming from the top of a tall metal pole next to the fireworks stand. DING!...in my mind, I realized, "Oh, there is a real fireworks tree next to that fireworks stand!" I made a mental note that I needed to stop and take photos of the fireworks tree on my return trip.

If driving from San Antonio to Medina Lake, this fireworks tree is located in the curve in the road of FM-471 (Culebra Rd.) that is between its intersection with State Highway 211 and its intersection with FM-1283, where you turn to get to Medina lake. The tree and stand are both placed adjacent to the chain linked fence of the Ingram Readymix SA #4 works, behind which large piles of assorted rocks are mounded.

There is some slight wear-and-tear evident within the branches of this fireworks tree since a few of them appeared to be loose; but as a whole, it still looked in operable condition. These Mr. W Fireworks stands are only open a few times a year (4th of July and New Years), so I was not able to get a photo of the tree when lighted for display.
