Long Description:

This stone is up in the front row of the cemetery under a tree and beside a stone wall. Fronting the cemetery is what is now a busy a busy four lane street. The marker reads:

James Horton
of Tenn.
Died Sept. 4, 1862
at the home of J.F. Cross
The first burial in
Sylvan Cemetery
