Long Description:
The gun is one of several artifacts of war brought back to New Zealand. It was German made and is one of 558 delivered to Turkey between 1903 and 1907. The model 1903 75mm Turkish Field Gun was built by the Friedrich Krupp Company at their Essen factory. The gun was partially destroyed during World War I and was captured in the Middle East between March 1917 and September 1918.

The gun was given to the town of Arrowtown in 1921 and put on display in 1923 when the war memorial was unveiled.
