Quick Description: Originally developed during WWII for the Army/Air Corp, this base became a navigation flight school. The Air Force Base was named for 2nd Lt. Carl S Mather 1894-1918 (original name Mills Field) and decommissioned May 1995.

Long Description:
It is now county owned.
There are two asphalt and concrete runways. Length is 6,040 feet/1,841 meters.
Based aircraft = 66. 21 single engine, 4 multi engine, 41 military.
Helicopters belong to sheriffs dept. Apparently, they are excluded from the noise abatement program 22:00 hours to 7:00 hours.
42 percent of the traffic is transient (air freight, Fed Ex and UPS), 26 percent militry (T-38's), 17 percent air taxi, 8 local, 7 percent commercial.

There is a late summer air show here.
7th annual, Sept. 8 - 9 ($$) One can see Mt. Diablo from here. Must have been an interesting sight to the pioneers.
