Long Description:
Bachus was the roman god of wine and may have been brought to these islands with the Roman invasions. As time progressed, the image of Bachus which was often a bearded man or at his youngest, a youth, grapes in hand, was replaced by a small, chubby infant. This child was often depicted sitting on top of a tun. The Boy and Barrel is a short step from there.
