Long Description:
The Claiborne County Courthouse, originally constructed as a Greek Revival building in 1845, was greatly remodeled and enlarged in 1903. During the 1960's the courthouse served as a focal point for the civil rights movement in Claiborne County.

The courthouse retains the look of the past, with marble lined hallways and the clock tower atop the building. Roaming the halls of this old building allows one to visualize life in the 1860's and the 1960's, two of the most turbulent times in America's history.
