Long Description:
It has a cross carved in relief on the front of the obelisk and a wreath at the top.

The names of all the men are inscribed on the monument. After World War II the monument was amended with an inscription for the men who died in that war.


The inscription on the front reads.

TO THE
SACRED MEMORY OF
THE MEN OF LOW MOOR
WHO SERVED/ THEIR KING AND COUNTRY
AND LOST THEIR LIVES
IN THE EUROPEAN WAR
1914-1918
------
THIS IS A MEMORIAL OF OUR GRATITUDE
AND TO THEIR HONOUR
------
THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD
AS WE WHO ARE LEFT GROW OLD
AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM
NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN
AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN
AND IN THE MORNING
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Near the bottom of the monument it reads

THIS MONUMENT WAS ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION
AND WAS UNVEILED NOVEMBER 10TH 1928


On the back it reads
REMEMBER ALSO
THOSE WHO FELL IN
THE GREAT WAR
1939-1945
