Long Description:
Although these donkeys stand alone, they actually form part of a larger piece of public art.

The full piece consists of a central memorial stone, standing on a seashore creature based mosaic made from pebbles. The memorial stone was originally surrounded by a fountain but this no longer works.

The piece is titled ‘Bradford-by-the–Sea’ and was designed by Maggy Howarth who specialises in pebble mosaics.

In England there is a long seaside resort tradition of using donkeys for children’s rides and so it is quite appropriate to incorporate donkeys into a seaside themed sculpture.
