This cairn was erected

as a memorial to

John M. Newman

1922 - 2007

Whose foresight and love

of this area was instrumental

in establishing this park and

other scenic reserves in the district.

Planting began here circa 1952.

Visit note: Oddly there is no name for this park, however it is an extensive area along the shore of Lake Wakatipu where people can picnic at.
