Along state highways in New Zealand you can find these markers.

However, they only appear when you changing regions (roughly the pre-1871 provinces) boundaries, yet the jursidication shown is the equivalent of a municipality. This is a bit of a bewilderment as each region has a regional government that supersedes the local government.
