The West Baton Rouge Museum is operated by the West Baton Rouge Historical Association. The museum maintains a collection of artifacts, documents and art relating the the history of West Baton Rouge Parish. The museum primary themes include rural life and urban development in West Baton Rouge Parish, sugar plantation history, and local folklife. Also in the museum's collection are historic structures relocated to the museum grounds including Aillet House, circa 1830; an Allendale Plantation Cabin, circa 1850; an Allendale Plantation Cabin, circa 1870; an Allendale Plantation Cabin, circa 1950; and the Reed Shotgun House, circa 1938.
