Olmsted Designed Parks
Description:
This category is for listing all parks, parkways, campuses, and other open spaces designed by Frederick Law Olmsted or his two sons John Charles Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr.
Expanded Description:
Frederick Law Olmsted was one of America's most prominent landscape architects. Some of his most famous parks are Central Park in New York City, Niagara Falls State Park (the oldest state park in the US), entire park systems in Boston, Buffalo, Louisville, and Seattle, and the grounds of the US Capitol Building and White House. He also designed the campuses of 355 colleges and universities.

Olmsted's two sons, John Charles Olmsted and Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr, took over the landscape architecture firm from their father after he died. Together they went on to design even more parks and campuses, not only in the US, but also in Canada, South America, and England.

A list of notable projects can be found at his wikipedia entries here and here. A master list of all Olmsted commissions can be searched at the National Association for Olmsted Parks website.
Instructions for Posting a Olmsted Designed Parks Waymark:
To create a waymark in this category, post the coordinates of the main entrance, or one of the entrances, to the park or campus designed by any of the Olmsteds. If the park is part of a master system of parks, each park is eligible for listing.

The name of the waymark should be the name of the park, parkway, or campus.

Be sure to include a photo of at least one place within the park, and use it as the default image on the waymark page. It would also be nice to include other pictures of places of interest within the park and also the park sign, but is not necessary.

For the description, include some history of the project, unique design aspects, or any other information you think may be of interest.
Instructions for Visiting a Waymark in this Category:
There are no specific visit requirements, however telling about your visit is strongly encouraged. Additional photos of the park to add to the gallery are also nice, but not required. Pictures with a GPS or you in them is highly discouraged.
